Tasmanian Hospitality Review - December / January 2023

2. What do you like most about your work? It’s about meaningful connections. Whether it is through identifying mutual commercial benefits or growing knowledge and understanding between passionate people. This role with VXT allows me to engage at the forefront of an absolute cornerstone industry in Tasmania. I get to work with individuals, businesses, and industry bodies to support the development of pathways and upskilling of our tourism and hospitality workforce. On a day-to-day basis, our newly formed team brings a diverse set of skills, perspectives, and experience to the table and under Emilie’s leadership it is a positive and supportive environment to expand our personal growth alongside the business going form strength to strength. 3. If your past work colleagues were going to describe you in three words, what would they be? Discerning, Results-oriented, Enthusiastic (I may have called a former colleague for these, so I should probably add resourceful or well-connected) 4. What do you do outside of VXT? I’m usually heading out of town when the weekend arrives and the weather typically dictates whether I am out on the boat fishing, scuba diving, hiking one of the many Tasmanian trails or finding a secluded camping spot with some delicious food, wine and gin products. During the week the calendar fills with events that are linked to my involvement with the Launceston Chamber of Commerce or supporting our local music scene. 5. What is something that might surprise people about you? I recently completed my Yin Yoga training, so you may see me pop up with a session or two in locally offered health and well-being programs. 6. What was the last book you read? Aside from the textbooks and journal articles for my recent postgraduate study, The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. The next book is David Walsh’s A Bone of Fact. 7. How can someone in the hospitality and tourism industry contact you? Happy to receive an email at any time. But I much prefer to cut down on the inbox traffic and
