Tasmanian Hospitality Review - December / January 2023

Tourism Tasmania

Strategy to 2030 is being finalised and will continue the work progressed through the T21 Visitor Economy Action Plan, available at www.T21.net.au With Christmas and New Year just around the corner, so to comes a plethora of activity and events across the state. I encourage you to leverage any events in your area, from the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race to Mona Foma in the south and north, and in our regional areas, Cygnet Folk Festival, Festival of King Island and Pangaea – just to name a few. To see what’s happening in your area, head to the Discover Tasmania website and look out for the ‘What’s On’ tab. On a personal note, in January I am finishing up as CEO of Tourism Tasmania after 10 years in the role. Over the last decade, there has been significant economic and sector growth alongside the evolution of our state tourism brand. While the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism and hospitality sector over the last two years has been momentous, I truly believe the next 10 years will be the best yet for Tasmania, our people and our industry. In January 2023, Tourism Tasmania will welcome Sarah Clark as the new CEO. Tasmanian born and raised, Sarah has served on Tourism Tasmania’s board since September 2021 and brings significant skills and global experience to the role, having been a leader in the tourism industry specialising in travel and marketing across multiple continents. Sarah is looking forward to providing leadership to realise Tasmania’s vision of being a global leader in sustainable tourism.

Thank you all for your hard work in supporting our visitor economy in 2022. The team at Tourism Tasmania and I wish you a wonderful Christmas and successful summer season.
