This gold and white design was inspired by several passages from Scripture, emphasizing the great light and beauty of God’s saving love.
God promises us in the Old Testament that a Messiah will come to save his people – a promise fulfilled by Jesus in the New Testament. Jesus is the living embodiment of God’s Promises – giving us a New Life. The band of leaves represent this never-ending New Life in Jesus.
“Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!” is a Paschal Greeting among Christians that originated centuries ago. Brilliant Gold is used in this cross design to signify how dazzled people were who first saw the newly- resurrected Jesus, that they failed to recognize him.
We will be filled with wonder and awe at His miraculous power; He is the Source of Truth and Wisdom, guiding us all our days. Just as God is a mystery with no beginning and no end, so too the Celtic knot bands which wrap around this Paschal candle.
