Just a short drive from Oklahoma City, the Gaslight Theatre in Enid is serving up big laughs this summer with its upcoming production of The Drowsy Chaperone . Running July 18 to 26, this delightful musical is a playful parody of 1920s theatre, filled with catchy tunes, hilarious twists and engaging characters that both kids and adults will enjoy. The story follows a glamorous Broadway starlet on the night before her wedding, her dashing fiancé, two bumbling gangsters in disguise and a host of eccentric characters — all set to toe-tapping music with fun dance numbers. “This show is such a fun, fast-paced experience,” said director Renae Perry. “It’s full of big laughs, catchy music and over-the-top characters. The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving spoof of old-school musicals, and while there’s a bit of light innuendo and a silly seduction scene, it’s all done in good fun. We recommend it for middle school and up — families with older kids are in for a great time!” As one of Oklahoma’s oldest and most active community theatres, the Gaslight Theatre has been entertaining audiences since 1966. Keep an eye out for their upcoming production of Annie , performing Dec. 5 to 14. 🎭 Pro Tip: If you have extra time, grab a bite to eat at Napoli’s Italian Restaurant.
