Role purpose

Deliver services with commercial principles that add value to the King’s Community experience by: • Providing innovative and creative dining, living, sports and event management that contribute to the wider learning experiences of our students through interaction with our sport facilities, food outlets, residences and venues. • Becoming a key contributor to student and staff satisfaction outside the academic and work environment, ensuring services are conveniently accessible and meet expectations. • Maximise the use of vacant space with the delivery of world-class events and event management for both internal and external stakeholders use of all commercially viable vacant spaces – classrooms, function rooms and residences – to support the university’s activities and enable/encourage connectivity and collaboration, leveraging the physical and intellectual capacity of London. • Planning supply-demand response to conservatively meet demand projections. • In addition, the post holder will work closely with Students & Education directorate to maximise opportunities for collaboration to help shape the student experience and meet the university’s objectives on student well-being and community building aspects for increased sense of belonging and a more holistic approach to all these services. As a member of the Directorate of Estates & Facilities’ Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the post holder will: • Play a central role, in conjunction with the Director of Estates & Facilities and other SLT members, in forward planning and strategy development for the department and the directorate, ensuring it aligns with Vision 2029 , other university’s strategies (Education, Service, London etc.) and the Estates & Facilities Philosophy. • Provide strategic advice to the Director of Estates & Facilities, agreeing best way forward for the directorate and sharing such recommendations in the appropriate forums (i.e. Estates Strategy Committee, Real Estate Operations Board etc.), becoming a valued and trusted advisor to the Director and university in their areas of expertise. • Effectively and collectively manage the risks within the directorate and align mitigation plans with management activities within departments, the directorate and other areas of the University, including potential financial impact and keeping the Director of Estates & Facilities abreast of any significant changes, including those requiring further escalation. • Ensure that there is appropriate and accurate management information available to SLT, covering all areas within the remit of the department, as required. • Actively engage with SLT members and key stakeholders from the various Directorates and Faculties to ensure a collaborative and constructive relationship.
