g UNITED IN CHRIST

H e , t h e S o n o f G o d , came down to bless the little company gath ered together on February 5 in sunny California. A sacred consciousness of His presence transformed the attrac tive drawing room of Dr. and Mrs. S. H. Sutherland’s home on the Biola Campus in La Mirada to a fragrant, hallowed wedding chapel, where Miss Carol Terry and Dr. Louis T. Talbot, Chancellor of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, were united in the bonds of holy matrimony by Dr. Sutherland. The soft strains of “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” played by Dr. Tal bot’s daughter, Mrs. Gerald Foster, blended in the familiar strains of Lohengrin’s Wedding March, as the bride, charming in a pink candlelight brocade ensemble, with matching hat and veil, entered on the arm of her brother, Mr. George Terry. She took her place at Dr. Talbot’s side and be side his daughter, Mrs. Charles Svendsen, who attended her. The or chids on the bride’s shoulder spoke so beautifully of “love that blossoms here on earth with roots imbedded in eternity.” Ribbon streamers fell from hands that tenderly clasped an ivory-colored Bible, the faithful guide through which the treasures of eternal life and love and all God’s loving ways had been so clearly unfolded. It prom ised now all the guidance, comfort and strength that would be needed for the years of togetherness ahead. Flowers of pink and white, bells and hearts, symbols of cherished love on a wedding day — all these were there. But the symbol that appeared to held the deepest beauty and sig nificance on this occasion was that of the wedding ring that joined the

two hearts together, and which was handed to Dr. Talbot by his son-in- law, Rev. Charles Svendsen, who at tended him. There was a sacred hush of solemn awe as the beautiful words of the wedding ceremony and mar riage vows were sealed with the cir clet of gold that spoke of love that is pure and least likely to tarnish of all metals. It spoke vividly of tender love planted in the heart by the Son of God, whose pure and matchless love stretched from the endless circle of

Dr. and Mrs. Louis T. Talbot time and eternity. His faithful love promised to guide them through the years of service that the future holds for them together. Dr. Jack Mac- Arthur joined all hearts together in prayer. The ceremony was followed by a happy time of well wishes and fellow ship with the family and a few inti mate friends. The beauty of the bridal table was enhanced by little lights illuminating silver bells and leaves that- formed the border of an exqui site tablecloth on which the wedding cake and refreshments were beauti fully arrayed. What delight all this would have brought to the orphans of 20
