the Ramabai Mukti Mission in India, where the bride has served as a mis sionary for sixteen years and to which she cannot return because of an eye condition. On the lawn outside, white blos soms fluttered from the pear trees as if to add their benediction to that of friends and family, as the happy pair left for a brief honeymoon, and then on to life and service together for their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in which they will represent both the Bible Institute of Los Angeles and the Rambai Mukti Mission. * ★ * Swallowing angry words is far better than having to eat them later on. * * * THE HANDS OF CHRIST For many years a very imposing statue stood at the crossroads of a town in France. I t was a life-sized image of Christ with arms out stretched to all who passed by. His imploring eyes seemed to say, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” An unusual look of tenderness and compassion shown from His face. But one day, during the World War, a fierce batle raged near the statue. The outstretched arms and hands of the image were blasted off by the concus sion of the shells. Later, someone has tily incribed these words on the pe destal which finally were chiseled into the block itself, “Christ has no hands but your hands.” How true these words are as we recall that our Lord Jesus has given us the opportunity of serving Him, of being His hands in a world of dire need. Perhaps we should sing the song, “Count your ob ligations, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord wants done.” This is not a matter of earning salvation, but because we are bom again, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we should have an earn est desire to serve Him with our whole hearts and lives, remembering that we are His hands. * * * Time is not an enemy unless you try to kill it.

THE SUBSTANCE OF FAITH The famed author of Pilgrim’s Pro gress, John Bunyan, penned, “Faith brings us near to God; unbelief puts us far from him. Faith believes God’s Word. It sees more in a promise of God to help than in all other things to hinder. Unbelief, notwithstanding all of God’s promises says, How can these things be?’ Unbelief grows im patient and gives up if God waits and tarries. Faith, however, will give com fort in the midst of fear. Unbelief causes doubt when we need divine comfort. But faith makes the greatest burdens light. Unbelief turns ordin arily light burdens into those which are unbearable and intolerably heavy. Faith puts a man under grace, while unbelief holds him under wrath. Faith purifies the heart, but unbelief keeps it polluted and impure. Faith makes our work acceptable to God through Christ but whatsoever is of unbelief is sin. For without faith it is impos sible to please Him. By faith we en joy life in its fulness but by unbelief we starve and pine away. Let us have faith in God so that we may say with assurance, ‘For we walk by faith not by sight.’ ” 21
