CHRIST IN THE AN IM A L K INGDOM

O UH last discussion concerned our Lord Jesus Christ in the vegetable kingdom. Today we want to think of Him in the animal kingdom. What strange animals He created. Have you ever seen the ant eater? Did you ever notice its long nose? Its tongue is about twenty-two inches long. He made all creatures that so dwell upon the earth. In the Scriptures Christ is called the Lion of the tribe of Judah. This is the king of beasts; the strongest and most wonderful. Did you know that the period of gestation for a lion is thir teen weeks? (For a horse it is thirty- nine weeks. It takes three times as long to make a horse as it does a lion.) Christ is called the Lion, because He can conquer every enemy. He has pow er and dominion over all flesh. He can give you power to overcome some habit of the flesh that may be holding you down. “He breaks the power of cancelled sin and sets the prisoner free.” Christ is the conquering Lion and can subdue every enemy and lay aside every obstacle. As the Lion you fear Him; as the Lamb, you love Him. As the Lion, He feeds on you; as the Lamb, you feed upon Him. As the Lion, He conquers your enemies; as the Lamb, He gives you peace in your heart from your enemies. As the Lion, He makes you fit for Him; as the Lamb, He makes you fit for heaven. As the Lion, He gives you a hiding place from the storm; as the Lamb, He gives you a quiet heart when you are in the storm. As the Lion, He demands justice; as the Lamb, He supplies the justice. As the Lion, He brings your sins before you; as the Lamb, He blots them out with His precious blood. How we need both Lion and Lamb! In Ezekiel 1:10 He is represented as the Ox. There were four animals men tioned in Ezekiel 10: the Lion, the Ox, the Man, and the Eagle. Those four

are also mentioned in Revelation 4. As the ox, He is your servant to do things for you and for the Father. One doesn’t use an ox to ride in a race or to go any where. The ox is made to pull things. It goes slowly, but certainly steadily. It is very strong. So our Lord Jesus Christ came to be a servant of God and the Saviour of men. When you trust Him, He serves you day and night. He supplies all your needs. The eagle represents the deity of Christ. It is the king of birds, flying above the storms, mountains and chasms. Christ need not care about the storm. He is the Creator and the Sus- tainer of the universe. Prophetic Scripture also refers to Him as a worm. In Psalm 22:6 we read, "I am a worm and no man." You see. Christ was taking my place when He said that. This is the one creature of God that can never fall down. He be came the lowest form of life in order to take my place. What a blessed thing that is. In Matthew 23:37 He calls Himself a hen, “How often would 1 have gath ered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not.” The mother hen loves her babies, and our Saviour loves His children. Someday He is go ing to call us to be with Him in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. We have Christ now in heaven interceding for us, taking our place, because the devil is accusing us before God both day and night. In the be ginning of His ministry, He wanted to gather the whole nation of Israel to Him, but they rejected Him. So now He is gathering them individually, both Jews and Gentiles in order that we may come and hide under the shadow of His wings. Why don’t you do that today? He will be the Lion to protect you, the Lamb to save you, the Ox to serve you, the Eagle for you to worship, 27
