CELESTIAL K INGDOM

T h e next time you look at the stars, remember the 19th Psalm, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard” (Psalm 19: 1-3). Our blessed Lord Jesus Christ can be seen beautifully in the celestial kingdom. He made the stars and Scrip ture say that He called them all by name. We know the names of only a few, names men have given to them. But how many billions there are. The evolutionist can’t tell you anything about those stars or where they came from. How did they start and why are they up there? Mark Twain said that it wasn’t the things he couldn’t un derstand that bothered him in the Bi ble, it was the things he could under stand. That is the way it should be. The Lord Jesus is compared to the mornihg star in Revelation 22:16. When you see Him in all His redemp tive beauty and glory, life becomes like a bright morning. Just before the dawn the morning star appears. It is never absent and never out of sight except for the rotation of the earth. He wants you to come to Him so that you may see His beauties and sing a new song. In Malachi 4:2 He is called the “Sun of Righteousness.” The sun has the very peculiar attractive power to warm and to bless. You will never know the drawing power of the Lord Jesus Christ to a human heart until you get ac quainted with Him yourself. He is the magnet of men. When people fall in love with Him, they find Him to be truly the “Sun of Righteousness.” He is the Star of Jacob in Numbers 24:17. We may as well realize that Jacob was “as crooked as a dog’s hind leg.” He was always doing the wrong

thing. You have the wrong idea if you think the Saviour is looking for perfect people. There aren’t any. He is the only One who can straighten us and make us whole. In Matthew 2:9 He is identified with the star of the East. Eastern stars speak of the sunrise of the morning which dispells the clouds. Isaiah 23 tells of the morning coming when there will be no clouds. When there are clouds CHR IST IAN HUMOR A genuinely good joke is worth a whole lot, but they should be sub jected to this test: When some woman blushes with em barrassment; When some heart carries away an ache; When something sacred is made to appear common; When a man's weakness provides the cause for laughter; When profanity is required to make it funny; When a little child is brought to tears; When EVERYONE can't join in the laughter: IT 'S A POOR JOKE— D O N 'T TELL IT! in our lives, we go to Him for light and direction. He never fails. And won’t it be wonderful to see our precious Sav iour transform our lives by His grace and power when we meet Him face to face. We can’t go as we are. We have to go to the Saviour who alone can make us fit for heaven. You can’t fool around, going to church once in a while, putting your nickel in the plate, and expecting to jump into God’s arms. It doesn’t work that way. You come to Him as a guilty, lost sinner. He will give you a robe of righteousness to cover up your life 31
