The Power of Partnerships: Stronger Together in Europe and Beyond To effect concrete change in the world, ICSC understands that Sites of Conscience need more than information and skills – they need relationships and systems to actualize and amplify their impact. To this end, in June 2024, ICSC partnered with its member site, the National Museums Liverpool and the Transatlantic Slavery and Legacies in Museums Forum to conduct a symposium entitled Challenging Narratives, Fostering Empowerment and Collaborative Practice . The conference took place at National Museums Liverpool, a Site of Conscience, that brings together eight museums and galleries, sharing important stories from ancient times to today, including the International Slavery Museum. During the 18th century Liverpool was England’s main port for the slave trade, with its ships transporting about 1.5 million Africans across the Atlantic between 1700 and 1807.
