and reliable scrap collection systems and solutions. “2023 was a big year for the implementation of two in- novative products for the corrugated and folding carton industries – the MultiStar Filtration Systems for any air con- veying and dust collection application, and the PHSH Com- bination Shredder for the corrugated market. The former of the two, saw numerous systems installed across North America at both greenfield installs and existing buildings, bringing ‘negative pressure air conveying systems’ to the forefront in material recovery systems. “Negative pressure air conveying systems differ from ‘traditional’ positive pressure or ‘blow-thru’ air conveying systems. Negative pressure systems reduce the need for noisy material handling fans throughout your facility, sav- ing you valuable floor space. They ‘pull’ material through ductwork towards a low-profile material separator and bal- ing system, which reduces duct leakage and dramatically improves ambient dust levels throughout your plant from your scrap handling system. The negative pressure sys- tem is more efficient as it idles unnecessary air flow when not in use to reduce electrical consumption, while also ex- tending the life of filter media. “In addition to the MultiStar filtration systems, the second innovative product offering provided by Kernic and Hӧcker in 2023 is the PHSH Combination Shredder for large Corrugator Plant operations.
