Do you need a root canal? Hopefully not. While the process of a root canal is quite simple, getting to the point where you need one can be truly painful. A root canal is a type of endodontic treatment that addresses problems inside of a tooth. If the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected due to damage or decay, a root canal may be necessary to alleviate the pain. During a root canal, your dentist makes a small opening in the crown of the sick tooth, cleans out the infected pulp, and fills the tooth with a biocompatible material to seal the tooth and help it heal. Root canals are often treated like the most painful experience a person can undergo at their dentist’s office, but modern techniques and anesthetics mean root canals are usually a painless procedure. Even during recovery, most patients are able to address any discomfort with over-the- counter or prescription medication. When you need to have a root canal, the pain can be so unbearable you can’t imagine waiting another moment for treatment. In the

past, any of our patients who needed a root canal had to schedule treatment at a different practice. It wasn’t a procedure we were equipped to handle in our office. Fortunately, this has changed since Dr. Andrea Londono- Shishehbor joined us. Dr. Andrea’s specific skill set and experience means that, in many cases, we can help patients who need a root canal without having to make them wait to schedule with another doctor. If we feel like a certain case would be better addressed in the hands of a specialist, we won’t hesitate to refer a patient out. Our main goal is to see a successful outcome for every patient. However, now that we have Dr. Andrea on the team, we are excited to be able to take care of more patient problems, like root canals, right in our office! Give us a call at (440) 483-1003 to learn what new treatments we’re able to offer in our office to make your visits smoother than ever before.

Citrus and Avocado Salad

Leah’s Bad Dad Joke of the Month

Winter is the height of citrus season, so it’s a perfect time to experiment with oranges and lemons. Roasting the fruits concentrates their flavor and makes the skins edible, creating a blast of flavor for this winter salad.
