Impressionism and Introducing the Elements of Art Hills Bank in North Liberty (590 W Forevergreen Rd) Thursday, October 25, 10:00-11:00 a.m. Join Amanda Lensing, Senior Living Communities Program Coordinator at the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art, as she presents and discusses Impressionism and Introducing the Elements of Art. Impressionism is one of the most universally loved and recognized artistic movements in the history of art. We’ll start at the beginning with Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet and end with The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh, looking at the evolution of Impressionism through the paintings that have made it so popular. You’ll see the artwork via PowerPoint and learn about the artists behind the paintings, while also applying the seven elements of art—line, shape, form, space, color, texture, and rhythm—and using the elements and vocabulary to describe and compare Impressionistic paintings of the 19th century. A native of Iowa City, Amanda’s career has primarily been in the entertainment and literary industries

in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Her love of art, education, and community involvement brought her back to Iowa to serve in this new position, where she educates herself on a period of art, an artist, or a craft and then shares that knowledge with the community. Register with a Friends Club representative at 319-679-2103 or FriendsClub@HillsBank.com.
