Mihai works at head office promoting our Local Community Partnership work and the Hays Travel Foundation. Each year at conference, Local Community Partnership work is recognised. Here is Mihai’s report and feedback from 2018’s winners.
“It has been a very successful year for the Hays Travel Foundation and it wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic work from our amazing staff who, undoubtedly, have embraced the idea of being community champions. “We have been very pleased to see just how passionate our teams are about improving the lives of others and we have seen many great fundraising initiatives. Every year at conference we highlight our Local Community Partnership winners and this year it was very hard to pick! “In the North, our winners were the Billingham team! Through their fundraising activities they have supported Butterfly Giving and local school, Priors Mill. The highlight of their year was a Pies and Peas event where customers enjoyed a fun filled evening with games, food and live music. The event raised a fantastic £1,345 for their chosen charity. The Hays Foundation also match funded this resulting in £2,690 for Butterfly Giving. “In the South, our winners were the Southbourne team! In 2018 the team raised money for both the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Nordoff Robbins. The highlight of their year was their Garden Party which they hosted in the home of one of the staff members. The event raised £1,900 and the Hays Foundation match funded it resulting in £3,800 being donated. The money fundraised will go towards Nordoff Robins who provide music therapy to children. “Finally, in the North West our winners were the Prenton team! In 2018 the team raised money for The Walton Centre. To raise money they took part in the Hope Mountain Walk, covering over 12 miles, roughly 27,000 steps. The event raised £1,500.
“As always, we would like to thank everyone for doing so much in the community and we look forward to another year of successful fundraising.” We spoke to the Southbourne branch manager, Josi Mcguire, about their award…
as Where’s Wally and walking 11 miles from Bournemouth Pier to Swanage Pier! We have set up a Just Giving page on which we have already started to see donations, we have advertised the event on our Facebook page, and have also received some fab marketing material from the head office team which is being used within the branch. But we won’t stop there, we will continue throughout the year to add to our funds with plenty of cake sales (we have some fab chefs in Southbourne) and more prize raffles. 3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM YOUR FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES LAST YEAR? My favourite memory from the fundraising activities has got to be the afternoon tea which we held in a local hotel. We had all of our regular customers turn up with their loved ones, the afternoon tea was delicious, and we raised £400 (match funded to £800 by the Hays Foundation) in one afternoon selling raffle tickets for our prize draw. And this only cost us £50 from our local community fund! I think this afternoon was so successful because my colleague Elisa got organising as soon as the year began, the whole team got behind the afternoon tea ticket sales and we had the whole room fully booked with people in just two weeks. It was a lot of fun and everyone really supported the charity we had chosen - Cystic Fibrosis.
1. HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT WINNING THE AWARD?
It was an amazing feeling. The whole team took it in their stride last year to really contribute to our local community - one of my staff members even hosted a garden party in his own home! The two charities are really special to the team which I think was reflected in the amount of money we raised. Being able to donate the money was an amazing award in itself so to also be recognised by the company was really amazing! 2. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS TO CONTINUE HELPING THE COMMUNITY THIS YEAR? We have a team charity walk organised which will take place in May. This is going to involve the whole team dressing up
