KEYN0TE SPEAKER

Lydia X. Z. Brown is a queer, disabled, and East Asian advocate, organizer, attorney, strategist, and writer. They are the Director of Public Policy at the National Disability Institute and the founding Executive Director of the Autistic People of Color Fund. They bring nearly 15 years of experience as a committed advocate, community organizer, and policy expert at the nexus of disability rights and disability justice.

IUPUI Staff / Faculty Leader Award: This award recognizes a faculty or staff member at IUPUI that provides extraordinary services, guidance, and assistance to the APIDA student body

Community Leader Award: This award recognizes a noteworthy leader in the community such as a person or an organization that provides services, programs, or assistance to the APIDA community of Indianapolis

Student Leader Award: This award recognizes a student at IUPUI who has demonstrated commitment, dedication, insight, leadership, and perseverance in their life through continuous service to and support of the APIDA community

STAFF & FACULTY AWARD

Ash Errichiello is an APIDA Faculty member and a graduate of both IUPUI for her undergrad and IU for her master's degree. She has always been passionate about diversity, equity and sense of belonging. During her time in her undergrad at IUPUI, Ash served as a mentor for DEAP and OTEAM where she received the Mentor of the Year Award, was an orientation leader and program coordinator for Orientation/First Year Experiences and was a part of the Asian Student Union and Filipino Student Association. During her senior year, she joined Sigma Psi Zeta, Sorority Inc, IUPUIs first Multicultural Sorority where she now serves as their Staff Adviser. Now her role is as the APIDA Student Specialist for the Multicultural Center and served as the advisor for this dinner.

C0MMUNITY LEADER AWARD

Khang Phan is a current third-year medical student at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has felt fortunate to be an advocate for patients, peers, and diversity in general through my involvement in the DEI Coalition, IUSM Medical Student Council, and the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA). Khang has also been involved in volunteering in the local community through Neighborlink and the IU Student Outreach Clinic, and around the Midwest through the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of the Midwest. He plans to apply for pediatrics this upcoming fall and finish upon his impact on the Indianapolis community before he leaves in May 2025.

STUDENT LEADER AWARD

Min Durham is a junior at Indiana University Indianapolis studying Art History with a Museum Studies Certificate. This academic school year, she works at the Multicultural Center, is an active member of the Asian Student Union, and has served as a Norman Brown Peer Leader for the past eight months. Being a part of the APIDA community on campus has impacted Min immensely, not only through the people she has met and formed relationships with, but by their support as they have uplifted her on her journey at IUI. This year, as the director of the APIDA Dinner, she has gained valuable leadership experience as well as the opportunity to work alongside wonderful individuals. She values her identity as an Asian American and is so appreciative to be a part of such a welcoming and empowered community.
