These barn-like buildings, with their soaring ceilings and expan- sive spaces, provide everything from games rooms and wet bars to apartments for overnight guests who don’t want to leave when the party ends. Some are housed in converted more resort-like, homeown- ers are creating separate
barns. Other versions of these so-called party barns or barn- dominiums, which feature guest rooms, are newly constructed and hew to the traditional form in facade only. But regardless of their architec- tural style or place on the property, these private entertainment venues are becoming the heart and hub of the family compound.
