possible to have the hands full and the heart empty. Taken up with our Master, we cannot forget our work; if the heart is filled with His love, how can the hands not be active in His service? . . . It is for us to sow the seed; it is for God to gather the fruit; if not by us, it will be by others. —A. M onod . JANUARY 31 Perhaps Today “ I will come again and receive you unto myself” (John 14:3). ; So near at hand, the hope of His appearing Grows brighter every day; : And though around thy path the shadows linger, He is not far away. At thy right hand, that thou shalt not be moved, He walks in tender grace: And swift the clouds may part, and thou, beloved, Behold His face. So near at hand that ’midst thy busy toiling Thy listening ear may catch The music of His footfall on the threshold, His hand upon the latch. And the sweet cadence o f a voice that calleth In gentle accents, “ Come!” And thou shalt find thyself beyond all shadows, With Him at Home. — S elected .

Above All , to Give Them. New Life Through Christ

The American Mission to Lepers makes it possible for missionaries o f all denominations to carry out Christ’s command, “ Cleanse the leper.” Here are some o f the tragedies that confront these workers: Korea: A hurricane has damaged to the extent of $1,500 the buildings put up by the lepers' own hands in the great Christian leper village o f Soonchun.

Persia: Lepers ache with the cold. Several would have frozen to death last winter had it not been for sheep skin coats provided by American friends. India: “ I dread each day to find many new cases whom I must tell to go on. I shudder to think what awaits them, for every leper hospital in the province is full. / know that our Heavenly Father cares, hut so many Christians do not care.”
