Our Health Advocate Team are responsible for promoting health and wellbeing in the workplace. Here are some of the campaigns they have been working on this year.

On Your Feet Hays Travel Another campaign organised by the Health Advocate Team this year was a ‘Stepper Challenge’, which took place for two weeks in April to coincide with the national ‘On Your Feet Britain’ campaign. Emily said: “The campaign involved a two week challenge with employees recording all the steps they walked during this period. Those with a Fitbit or equivalent were able to download the ‘Map my Walk’ app, and over 60 members of staff took part. Our company target was to walk 9,427,800 steps collectively, which would take us to the Ivory Coast! “The aim of this campaign was to get as many people as possible up on their feet and getting active over the Easter period. It created a great atmosphere in departments where multiple team members entered and everyone loved the competitive spin on the campaign. Staff from all over the company took part, from finance to the retail branches, and got really invested in the challenge.”

Emily Wilson, our graduate in the training department and member of the Health Advocate Team, said: “Our Hays Travel SMILE begins with ‘Supportive’ and by signing this pledge we are dedicated to not only supporting our employees with their mental health, but also educating all staff across the business on various mental health conditions and how to look out for colleagues who could be suffering. “With another of our values being ‘Loyal’, we understand how important it is to look after each other. With over 1700 employees across the company we want to be continuously raising awareness of the importance of positive mental wellbeing for all of our staff. “Since starting this discussion, we have seen members of staff open up and share their personal stories about how mental health has affected them. We have also
Time to Change Pledge Hays Travel signed the Time to Change pledge on 2 May 2019. Time to Change has been signed by more than 900 employers in the UK and commits firms to changing how its employees think, act and talk about mental health, as well as ensuring staff facing these problems receive support. In February, we held a Time to Talk day, which encouraged employees to talk about mental health. Signing the Time to Change pledge was the next step in committing to promoting good mental health awareness across the organisation.
