which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father did. He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made.” Let’s take a look at this large nail. It, too, is so much like many people that I shall call it Ned Nail. Placed inside the coil, the nail has a magnetic power. It too can lift the other nails, but taken outside the coil, it has lost all its power. See, it cannot lift even one of the little nails. Ned Nail reminds me of people who have once known the power of God in their lives, and because of sin have lost the power to serve Him. We have many examples in the Bible and in life of people who have once mani fested God’s power, but later have lost it. Boys and girls, there is a reason why the drill kept its magnetism and why the nail lost its power. The drill is made of tempered steel, and the nail is made of iron which has never been tempered. I trust you boys and girls have real steel in your lives, and hav ing experienced God’s power you will continue to keep it and be of service to Him.

Hiding God’s Word in the heart keeps people from many sins which they might otherwise commit. We will let this bowl of water rep resent God’s Word. As I place this tin heart in the water, you will observe that it does not receive any of the water. It is soon as dry as before. Many boys and girls are just like this heart. They come to Bible classes, but they do not come to receive the Word of God. As I light these black matches of sin, they burn and blacken the heart that has refused to receive the Word of God. A mother once gave her boy, who was leaving home, a New Testament with the following written on the flyleaf: “ This Book will keep you from sin. Sin will keep you from this Book. Read a portion of it each day. Mother.” The boy became a bandit; and when he was arrested, he confessed that he had not opened the Book since his mother gave it to him. This sponge heart is different. It drinks all the water it can. Now no tice what happens when the matches of sin try to burn and blacken it. The water puts out the fire. It is just so with the Word of God. Many people have been kept from some great sin by remembering that the Word o f God has forbidden their doing it. Christ used the Word of God when Satan tempted Him, and we should do as He did. Never neglect an oppor tunity to learn God’s Word, for the time will come when it will be needed. I feel confident that the Word of God hidden previously in his heart was what kept Daniel true to God. We read, “ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: Therefore he requested o f the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself” (Dan. 1:8). accepted Christ to stand. Four men rose to their feet. Four more joined them thus professing faith in Christ for the first time. Then Chaplain Dun lop invited all the Christian men to witness to their faith in Christ by coming forward and standing with these eight. About sixty men respond ed. I gave them a special message and prayed foy them. Later I was assigned a room in which to interview the men individually. God met us that day in the prison! Objects: A heart cut from sponge, a tin heart, four matches blackened with crayon, and a fish bowl or large jar filled with water.

Lesson: How many of you wish that there were no rules at school to be obeyed? Yes, most boys and girls do not like rules, but the teachers have found by experience that rules are necessary for the good of all. The faithful ministers and prophets of God in all ages have found that it is difficult to get people to obey God’s rules. Amos had difficulty with the people of his day in getting them to hear and obey God’s Word. A wise man once said: “ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might I not sin against thee” (Psa. 119:11).
