Vomiting was not a regular part of Roman dining. The “vomitarium” was an entranceway for a stadium, and not a room for throwing up so that you could go back for more grub.
You could argue about whether this concept is true until the cows come home, but one thing is certain. Machiavelli never said it. What he DID say was “One must consider the final result.” Definitely not as catchy.
This is a vomitarium - absolutely nothing to do with barfing and going back for seconds, or thirds for that matter !
Lightening DOES strike in the same place twice. It is a huge electrostatic discharge, looking for a place to land, and it doesn’t think “Oh I’ve hit that tree before, so I won’t hit it again.”
Carrots don’t improve your eyesight. This was a myth invented by the British during the second world war. When they developed radar, they spread the story that their pilots could “see” the German airplanes because they were eating lots of carrots. The Germans fell for the lie, and started feeding their pilots carrots.
Marie Antoinnette never said “Let them eat cake”. The phrase was in common use by the aristocrats in France long before it was attributed to her. And actually, she had something of a social conscience and she was generous to charities.
