And Finally - Rush Community News, July 1999

The lead story in Rush Comm.News in July 1999 was the opening of the new Sailing Club premises at Rogerstown.

The issue also reported on the opening of the new Genoa restaurant and take-away in the old Butterly Shop on the main street. A news report told how the County Librarian wrote to TD Trevor Sargent, and confirmed that the Council had obtained a 7,000 sq.ft. site for a library on the main street.

Kingston’s Hardware in Skerries took out a large ad, with bargains including a frying pan with free spatula for £ 9.95, a 110’ rotary clothesline for £ 16.95 and a computer desk for just £ 64.95 (all pre- Euro of course). Rush Golf Club reported on some pretty impressive scoring in their Wednesday competitions, and there were reports from St.Maur’s GAA on their summer hurling camps, and from Rush Athletic on their record breaking year. Advertisers included The Windmill Restaurant in Skerries, Quinnsworth in Balbriggan, Chiropodist Miriam Mullen,

Fingal Aqua Swimming Club, and politicians Nora Owen, Trevor Sargent, and Sean Ryan

ON A SADDER NOTE This issue also reported a number of recent deaths, including:- Sarah Louise Harding, Tom Archer, who died aged 97, and Mollie Leonard, who passed away aged 90
