LEGACY BUILDERS EDITION | VOLUME II

Built America Magazine

The story of Florida Palm Construction does not begin with a business plan or a bold entrepreneurial leap. It begins at a kitchen table in 2015, where a young family faced the kind of uncertainty that forces a choice: retreat or rebuild. At the time, Ileana Fay had already earned her degree in environmental science, built a career in environmental engineering, and welcomed her first child. Then, just as her husband transitioned into general contracting full time, she was laid off. She was pregnant with their second child. Suddenly, the two-income household they relied on disappeared overnight. “It was necessity and a little bit of happenstance,” she recalls. “When I lost my job, we decided to try building something together—something that would allow us to provide for our family.” What began as survival has since evolved into one of South Florida’s most respected project management and construction firms, operating across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Florida Palm Construction now oversees commercial interiors, civic renovations, institutional upgrades, university build-outs, and high-touch redevelopment projects ranging from $100,000 to $5 million.

Their growth did not come in a single leap. It came in stages.

Each one reshaping who they were and what they would become. From Self-Performing Carpentry to Full-Scale Project Management 101
