The observation emerged after years of watching businesses struggle with problems that often had little to do with technical ability and everything to do with communication. Missed expectations, unclear conversations, and poor follow-through can damage relationships long before a lack of skill ever becomes an issue. Improving those areas has become part of Terry's broader mission to help people become better leaders, better teammates, and better members of their communities. His leadership philosophy was further refined after reading Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink, a book he credits with helping him connect many of the lessons he had 42
learned throughout his life. The central idea resonated immediately.
