There will come a day when Robert Lord no longer walks the job site, questions the materials or catches the details others might miss.
He knows this.
For now, he continues to show up, carrying a lifetime of knowledge into every decision. He looks beyond what a home appears to be on the day it is finished and considers what will remain when storms arrive, systems age and the keys pass into hands he may never know. More and more, he thinks about who will carry that knowledge when he is no longer there to provide the answer.
“As long as I can, I will,” Robert says.
The words are quiet, but the responsibility beneath them is not.
After more than 36 years in construction, Robert Lord has reached a point where the work behind him is immense, yet what lies ahead feels increasingly urgent.
