D id D a d g iv e you that Valen tine?” Paul had just finished reading the card which was perched atop Mother’s dresser. Incredulity is the only word to describe the lad’s attitude and expression. “Yes, he did. What other man could ever give me a card like that? Be sides, you see his signature, don’t you?” “Oh, Mother! You know what I mean. Do you still love Dad?” “ Of course, Honey. Doesn’t it show?” “Uh huh. But Mama, do old peo ple like you love each other as much as when you were first married?” “ Even more, my dear.” “You do?” Such knowledge was ap parently beyond the ken of a 14-year- old. He walked out of the room in a sort of daze. Mother’s laugh was a refreshing giggle, — but n o t. for son number four to hear. Paul is at such an in teresting period of development. Try ing, too, at tunes. One day— or may be for a fleeting moment — he shows happy signs of growing up. There is a flash of remarkable insight or com prehension of a serious matter. The next day, or moment, he reverts to nine-year-old behavior. Such is life in a family. His parents could not expect Paul to appreciate the depth of love between husband and wife some 26 years and 9 children after marriage. Mather thought of the contrasting side of the marriage story as it affects many people. She saw a vivid panorama of blighted hopes, broken vows, one in every eight chil dren without a father in the home. No, not every marriage is rewarding and rich to the parties involved. " Thank You, Lord,” Mother raised her heart to her Father-God. “Thank You for honoring the ‘work’ Daddy and I have put into our marriage. Don’t let any of our children forget that with You nothing is impossible.” It is such a privilege to walk with thé God who says, “ Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”
