Home Sweet Home Adventures Abound in Aberdeen
Dental insurance is a lot different than health insurance, and I enjoy helping people learn what their plans have to offer so they can get the most out of their benefits. This can also be the most difficult part of my job at times, but I’m always up for a challenge. paperwork, though. I also have the privilege of getting to know our awesome patients. Though I’m more of an introvert, I genuinely enjoy getting to meet My job isn’t all insurance and
I’m Michelle Alberts, and I’ve been working at the Aberdeen Smiles front desk for almost seven years. My primary job is insurance verification, which means I help patients with their benefits and make sure their insurance will cover the treatment they need. I was born and raised in Aberdeen. My family bounced around the state for a little while, but I’ve been back since I was 9 years old. I love living in Aberdeen. It’s great to raise a family in a community that’s safe and friendly. And it’s hard to beat the amazing opportunities we have to spend time in the great outdoors. My kids spend a lot of time outside — something I’m pretty grateful for, since there’s four of them! In the winter months, they love playing in the snow. This past winter, we spent tons of time snowmobiling and ice fishing. It’s always a blast. When the weather warms up and the snow melts, my husband and I love to go camping with the kids. We spend a lot of time at Elm Lake. James spent a lot of time at the lake growing up, and my dad also has childhood stories from Elm Lake. It’s kind of a family tradition. If you’ve never been, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s small and quiet, which makes it a great spot for families. You can keep an eye on everyone while you’re fishing, swimming, or just enjoying each other’s company. When I’m not out in the woods with my family, you can find me behind the front desk here at Aberdeen Smiles. A friend of mine, who worked here at the time, recommended I come in when an accounting position opened up. Though I’d never worked at a dental office before, hearing my friend talk about how much she loved it convinced me to give it a shot. I was happy to find myself walking into such a warm, welcoming place.
clients and catch up with them after each visit. I’m mostly checking patients out at the end of the visit, which means I get to see them when they’re in a good mood and feeling better after treatment. It’s always nice to see people coming back every six months and hear about what’s going on in their life. I’ve been at the office since 2012, and it’s honestly one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. Dealing with insurance can be stressful, but I love that I’m able to help take one less stress off our patients’ plates when they’re with us. I also enjoy having the free time after work to have adventures with my family. It’s a good fit, and I feel like I’m in the right place here in Aberdeen. Michelle Alberts
I picked things up pretty quickly, and over time, I transitioned from accounting to working with insurance.
