Marty Sas - SERC Marty Sas has been working in the Bulk Electric System industry for the last 20 years, with the past 3 years at SERC Reliability Corporation. The primary focus of his role is to be the liaison to the Reliability Risk Working Group (RRWG), Reliability Coordinator Working Group (RCWG), and System Operator Working Group (SOWG), along with assisting the RAPA and other departments at SERC in the coordination and assessment of the bulk power system to assure effective and efficient reduction of risks to the reliability and security of the Bulk Electric System. Before SERC, Marty spent 13 years at MISO, with 5 of those years as the Senior Manager of South Reliability Coordination and Engineering. The primary focus of his role was to supervise staff in maintaining reliable operations of MISO’s southern system through managing the balance of power, constraints, and market operations. Marty began his career at MISO as Reliability Coordinator for the East Region and then moved to the South Region as the Lead Reliability Coordinator to assist in establishing the MISO South Region. Before MISO, Marty spent 4 years at PJM in their west control room as a Power and Generation Dispatcher. Marty has been in the utility industry since 1994 and has held several positions with a Utility Line Construction Company ranging from a Construction Manager to a Field Engineer. Marty currently holds his NERC RC certification and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from the Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Bill Peterson - SERC Bill Peterson is the Senior Manager, Outreach and Training with SERC Reliability Corporation. Bill has contributed over 20 years to the information technology profession, with 17 years dedicated to securing the bulk power system. He started working with CIP security in 2007 and has helped numerous organizations strengthen their security posture over the years. Previously, Mr. Peterson was the Manager, IT and Assistance, Program Manager, Cyber Security in the Technical Resources department, and a Senior CIP Engineer in the Compliance group. Prior to joining SERC, he worked in security roles for Duke Energy and the New York Power Authority. Mr. Peterson has a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration on Information Technology Management from the State University of New York at Utica/Rome. Mr. Peterson has a Bachelor’s of Science degree with a dual major in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology from the State University of New York at Utica/Rome. Bill holds Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certifications and a Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
