Original Albert College, circa 1896.
Community Roots Founded in 1857, the original Albert College was located on what is now College Street East. When Albert College opened, British North America was a group of colonies, forests were still being cleared in Hastings and Frontenac Counties, and logs floated down the Moira River. In the spring of 1917, the College was partially destroyed by fire. Construction on the present Dundas Street West site began in 1923, and the new school opened in 1926. Albert College is Canada’s oldest co-educational boarding and day school, steeped in history and traditions, many of which are still honoured today. We are proud of our historic and continuing place in the Belleville community.
We Are Family
At Albert College, we encourage and embrace a strong partnership between home and school. It is important for parents to be involved - to attend field trips, assist during special events, volunteer in the classroom and to be an active part of the Albert College family.
