Job Title: Assistant Director of Estates School/Service: Estates and Capital P rojects Grade: Management G rade Responsible to: Director of Estates Development and Capital P rojects Responsible for: Development and Maintenance Team

• Manage budgets and the financial performance of services and regularly review options for delivering services efficiently, achieving value for money and controlling direct and indirect costs. • Wo rk with senior managers across all areas of the University in order to develop and improve service delivery, ensuring services meet customer needs and expectations. • Facilitate the delivery of customer focused services and maintain effective relationships with client departments and other stakeholders. p rovide appropriate feedback so that customers are aware of service standards and levels of performance. • P rovide effective leadership and manage and motivate staff to ensure a committed and highly motivated team focused on delivering efficient and effective services in line with the estates and facilities strategy and goals. This includes setting a clear vision for the team, managing and developing structures, regularly reviewing resource and ensuring the composition of the team includes appropriate technical and professional skills, leadership and management competencies.

• Wo rk with the Assistant Directors of Facilities and Commercial Services to develop cyclical, medium to long term investment strategies for existing University

Job Purpose: Wo rk closely with colleagues in the Estates and Facilities’ senior leadership team to ensure the department supports the delivery of the University’s strategic plan.

L ead and manage the teams delivering all university space

allocation / planning strategy, town and campus planning, transport planning, asset management and land management services, project management, maintenance, PP M, L TM, RM ) and project / investment, costing and property investment appraisal, CAD / Design services and building information modelling (B IM ) environmental and design management.

• L ead and develop estates, space planning and asset management teams, engendering a high performance, service orientated culture and ensuring optimum performance, environmental and CRC. Utilise robust service level agreements, key performance indicators, contract services management and continuous improvement initiatives ensuring different functions communicate and work together. • W ork closely with the timetabling team and the finance department to improve institution wide space efficiency developing appropriate space resource management policy supporting the universities strategic objectives. Ensure sufficient and robust space allocation and use data is available to inform decisions and planning.

Act as departmental L ead on ICT and space strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Help generate and review the University’s Estates and Facilities strategy by providing leadership in the areas of

assessing Estates investment priorities, future opportunities and evaluating project and investment risk and reward profiles.
