Wadley Regional Medical Center is an acute care hospital that has served the Texarkana community since 1900. Wadley provides a wide range of healthcare services to the people in a 16-county region in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, including cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, women’s services, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, diagnostic and imaging services, breast health, 24-hour emergency care, critical care, intensive care, and rehab services. Bringing technology and services to the community is a longtime tradition of Wadley. With many healthcare firsts in Texarkana, Wadley was the first to be certified by The Joint Commission in 2008 as a Primary Stroke Center and designated by the State of Texas as a Primary Stroke Center in 2009. Wadley is considered the area leader in stroke care. Additionally, Wadley led the charge of becoming the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Texarkana and brought robotic surgery to Texarkana in 2009 with the da Vinci Si surgical system. Wadley’s team of dedicated employees commit themselves to providing quality care and improving the overall quality of life in the communities served by giving back and getting involved. Wadley is building a replacement facility in Northwest Texarkana just off of I-30, and construction is projected to be completed by late 2025.
CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, recognized as the area’s only comprehensive heart care and comprehensive cancer care programs, is nestled within over 128 acres of oak, pine, and dogwood trees along Interstate 30 in Texarkana, Texas. Construction on the new free-standing CHRISTUS Emergency Center at 4250 Gibson Lane, Texarkana, TX, is scheduled to be completed in July 2024. Established in 1916 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word as the Michael Meagher Memorial Hospital, CHRISTUS St. Michael continues to focus on their founding mission to “Extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.” Our health care ministry provides patient- centered quality care through the Center for Joint Replacement, our designated Primary Stroke Center, the region’s only Level III NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), women and children’s services, as well as day surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, diagnostic radiology, therapeutic and wellness programs. CHRISTUS St. Michael is a recognized regional leader in cancer care, heart care, general surgery, heart surgery, and orthopedic care. CHRISTUS St. Michael offers the region’s only Hybrid Operating Room, the region’s only Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, and the region’s only comprehensive Infusion Center. CHRISTUS St. Michael is nationally recognized as a Magnet® hospital for excellence in nursing and holds the American College of Cardiology Accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI.
