ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Alexander Urpí Degree: Associate of Arts (2012) Employer/Role: Chief Executive Officer and Investment Advisor, Emergent Financial Services, LLC. Tell us about your job: "Emergent is a family and Hispanic-owned small business in Charlottesville. I help individuals with financial planning, investment advice, saving for retirement, and portfolio management. I also work with institutions such as businesses, cities, counties, foundations and others, to astutely invest their assets to meet their cash flow or income needs." How did PVCC prepare you for your job? "PVCC has just tremendous educators for its pre-req College Composition and writing- intensive classes that really honed my communication skills early on. Communication is one area that is so key to investment advice. I would also give a shout-out to how helpful PVCC counselors were in helping me transfer via the guaranteed admissions process to finish my bachelor’s at UVA."
