Foals go on to other breeding programs, to be used as working ranch horses, for personal saddle horses, and mounting competitors from youth to the PRCA across the country. Cowy horses that are smooth moving across the pasture and quick on their feet in the arena, with color, conformation and size, muscle, the right amount of bone to perform and stay sound. Horses raised here will do well anywhere. Our stallions and mares are AQHA N/N for the 5 panel genetics test. Keeping true to the Blue Valentine Legacy with stallions such as Bonny Blues, Blue Fox Hancock, and Hancocks Red Fox, with impressive names on their papers including Roan Ambrose, Leo Hancock Hayes and Fox Coup. All three of these stallions were Plenty Try grandsons, Blue Valentine grandsons and 43.75% Blue Valentine. Lauing Ranch has added several young stallions to the program including: Plenty Coup Bonnet, a grandson of Plenty Try, who is 50% Gooseberry. AQHA Lifetime Members, breeding horses for over 40 years and recognized by AQHA as Ranching Heritage Breeders since 2009 with foals eligible for the Ranching Heritage Challenge. In 2022, Lauing Ranch was honored to be recognized as the South Dakota Quarter Horse Association 2021 Producer of the Year. JD Lauing currently serves on the SDQHA Board of Directors. Continuing the legacy of raising great horses is Levi Lauing, who works closely with his granddad and uncle. The best way to see what Lauing Ranch has to offer, is to see the horses for yourself.
