VETGIRL’S VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEBINAR ON JANUARY 25, 2024 ME-OUCH! FELINE PAIN ASSESSMENT

VETGIRL’S SMALL ANIMAL WEBINAR ON JANUARY 21, 2024 ANTIMICROBIAL USE IN THE CLINIC: WHAT'S MY PERFECT DRUG MATCH? SWIPE RIGHT ON MICROBE KILLERS BY DR. MICHELLE EVASON, DVM, BSC, DACVIM, MRCVS AND DR. SCOTT WEESE, DVSC, DACVIM • We no longer need to be utilizing radiographic resolution as a routine benchmark for when to discontinue antimicrobials with pneumonia treatment. • Human medicine is testing out shorter durations of antimicrobial use for various infections and veterinary medicine is following suit with recommending shorter courses of antimicrobials. • Sometimes a little anti-inflammatory prednisone can help treatment of infections.

BY KELLY M. FOLTZ, BA, AAT, CVT, LVT, RVT, VTS (ECC) • When it comes to pain behavior, assessment, and intervention, cats aren't simply small dogs! • Multiple validated pain assessment tools exist for veterinary technicians to assess feline pain. • Many tools are also available for cat parents to evaluate their cat's quality of life. • Devising a customized analgesic plan that includes pharmacologic and non-drug support is easier than you think!

VETGIRL’S SMALL ANIMAL WEBINAR ON JANUARY 11, 2024 HOW TO TREAT YOUR KIDNEY RIGHT: FEEDING THE SICK-KIDNEY EDITION BY DR. KORINN SAKER, DACVN • Early-stage renal disease nutrition emphasizes the importance of providing lower phosphorus content in the diet, rather than prioritizing lower protein. When the renal disease is more advanced in stage (stages 2-4) that’s when we focus on BOTH low phosphorus and low protein levels. • If we can diagnose kidney disease in stage 1 (SDMA can help when other lab values aren’t quite showing it yet!) it’s beneficial to start renal diets low in phosphorus. • If you have a pet refusing any and all renal diets even with tasty toppers, it’s most important to keep up with the pet’s caloric intake; senior diets may be worth a try in pets refusing all renal diets.

VETGIRL’S LEADERSHIP/PRACTICE MANAGEMENT WEBINAR ON JANUARY 23, 2024 EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS

VETGIRL’S LEADERSHIP WEBINAR ON FEBRUARY 13, 2024 SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS AS A LEADER BY RANDY HALL • The culture of a hospital is largely driven by the leader of the hospital. • People (staff members) will always be more motivated when they participate in their own rescue; encourage them to help you create the path to their own work contentment. • When we determine what success should look like, our brains will naturally start filtering in more of the environmental information that fits this picture.

SAVES TIME AND MONEY BY PETER WEINSTEIN, DVM, MBA

• Efficiency is not effectiveness and vice versa! • There are four major areas to work on from an efficiency and effectiveness standpoint-physical plant, products, people and processes. • Technology can be a benefit to efficiency and effectiveness. • Improvement in efficiency and effectiveness has measurable benefits to productivity.
