Packaging Innovations Show Highlights Reignited Industry
As the curtains draw on another edition of the Packaging Innovations and Empack exhibition, Joanna Stephenson, panelist and Managing Director of PHD Marketing, be- lieves the UK packaging industry has cause to celebrate. Held February 21-22 at the Birmingham NEC, the 2024 event saw record footfall and showcased an array of de- sign, material, and format innovations from packaging businesses, tailored to meet the needs of today’s brands and consumers. The event, hosted by Easyfairs, served as a specialist space for packaging designers, developers, buyers, and suppliers to connect, collaborate and ignite creativity. This year’s edition had more than 400 suppliers in attendance, attracting almost 7,000 visitors across the two days, and featured more than 50 panel and seminar speakers. “What we’re seeing is that despite mounting pressures in sustainability,” said Stephenson, “packaging designers are pushing material and design technology further than it’s ever been before."
