ICONIC EPISODE: CHER DRESSES AS NATIVE-AMERICAN

Although being primarily of Armenian decent, Cher leveraged her lesser Cherokee ancestry by wearing Native American fantasy costumes & headdresses designed by Bob Mackie and recording the #1 certified gold single “Half Breed.” Cher long, white war bonnet (middle left) with coral and turquoise turkey feathers and silver metal detail, her white Native American fantasy costume with felt coral, turquoise & blue chevron motif and long hanging fringe detail; her daughter Chastity (Chastity Bono) similar child-sized costume (not pictured); and Cher black synthetic braided wig with turquoise bead ornamentation (middle right) from The Cher Show (except the wig worn later in live concerts). All objects were auctioned by Cher to support Operation Helmet that provides better helmets for soldier in active duty.
