Beldar Conehead (Dan Aykroyd) conical head appliance (middle right) from perhaps the program’s defining recurring sketch dated “4/15/77” within indicating it was made during the historic second season of SNL . The imaginative make-up team maintained the rigidity of the tall conical shape by dipping sheets of newspaper into latex rubber; Mr. Bill humanoid clay puppet (voiced by Walter Williams) & Spot dog clay puppet (both bottom left) featured in a later commercial campaign and acquired from character creator Walter Williams. Famously, Mr. Bill is inevitably abused, and we archive both the Mr Bill “before" puppet that is seen here, as well as the one flattened like road kill by his nemesis Sluggo (not pictured).
