THE KING’ S BUSINESS

bors, and, although it was near Christmas time, every penny went to meet the pledge for China, and always went up to God the prayer, “ Bless our little girl in China, and may she become •a great missionary and win many souls for Jesus.” The money was all in my hands when the appointed time came, and I could not refrain from telling in the letter I wrote, sending it to the mission headquarters, just how the money had been earned. Today comes a most precious answer, which I give below : “I am enclosing a letter from Chen Liang. I translated the one from America and had it written' out for her, then after giving it to her personally we read it to the girls together at evening prayers, with that passage ‘God loveth a cheerful giver.’ The girls got quite stirred up over it, and after I had gone they talked it all over, consid ering what they could do. Next day the matron came to tell me that they were keen to do all the cross-stitch work they could in their leisure time, and so earn money to give to the Lord and help in the opening o f a new out-station which belongs specially to the native church. So you see the work o f these children in America has borne fruit already. W e have a list o f the names o f the girls thus working (eight o f them.), up on the wall, and underneath goes the work they do and the price given. Chen Liang’s name is among them.”—L. C. A motorman was downcast and discour aged; there was sickness and sadness in his home. The Christian worker among men in the car barns sought him out, speak ing words o f hope and cheer, because he spoke o f Christ. The wife’s address was handed to us, and a call at the home dis covered the, need o f sympathy and com fort. God's Word was opened and a desire to know more o f it awakened. Other calls were made and the women o f the neigh borhood met in this motorman’s home and formed a class for Bible study. This hap pened a year and a half ago. The class has met each week, having gone into ten diiferent homes and reached more than

fifty women. Some o f these women have borne testimony to greatly enriched lives and have become bearers o f the Gospel message into other homes. All this is but the fruitage o f seed sown in ,a car barn meeting, and the end is not yet,—E. M. A fter talking a few moments with a young woman at her door, we asked if she really knew the Master. She replied: “Well, that is something I just do not know. I wish you would come in a little while.” O f course, we were only too glad to do so. She told us something o f her life and- experiences, and this opened the way for us to tell her o f her real need o f Him. As she read passage after passage at our suggestion, her voice held more o f meaning and her eyes filled with tears and she said, “ Do you know I never under stood it before.” When we asked, “ Do you really believe and can you receive Him,” she answered, “ I do and I can.” As we left she said, “ I wish you would go and see my sister.” W e were glad to do this, and the very request seemed an evidence o f real life in her. Thus we are made to rejoice in the power o f His Word.- W e called on’e day when the door was only opened a tiny crack and we could hardly see the woman through the screen, but we made our business known and asked a few. questions, expecting every moment to have the door closed entirely. As we began repeating Scripture, it seemed to gain entrance and give light until finally the door was opened wide and she was stand ing close by us, exclaiming now and then: “ Is that true? Is that the way? I never saw it like that before.” ' When we put the question plainly, “Will you receive and believe it?” she replied, after a moment, “Yes, I do believe.” And we cannot doubt that He came into her life right then, j “ I am nqt reading New Thought litera ture at all now,” remarked a member o f one o f the Bible classes. “ But are you reading the old thought as you promised ?” asked
