“were filled with jealousy” (cf. ch. 13:45; 17:5 ; Matt. 27:18). Every man whom God greatly uses awakens the jealousy o f others who call themselves servants o f God. Wes ley and Whitefield and Finney and Moody were constantly opposed, openly or insid iously, by those whose opposition really sprang from jealousy. It is natural to us all to be envious o f Spirit-filled men, and we do well to take warning from these Sadducees instead o f merely visiting them with our condemnation. The jealousy in this case was very bitter. It went even to ' the point o f arresting the whole apostolic company and casting them into prison. But an “ angel o f the Lord” (R. V .) came to . their rescue (cf. Heb. 1:14; Ps. 34:7; Dan. 3:11-25; 6:22-24; Acts 12:7-11). The strongest prison doors are no barrier to an angel o f God. It is impossible to lock up a' man whom God would have ,at liberty (Prov. 21:30). With the deliverance came the command to go and stand and speak in the temple to the people fill the words o f this life. This indeed required great courage under the circumstances, but to dis obey after such remarkable deliverance would have been gross ingratitude. . But we too have been delivered by so great and so glorious a deliverance that it would be gross ingratitude not to speak all the words o f this life, no matter how great the peril (1 Pet. 1:18, 19). But there are some who hesitate to speak “all the words o f this life.” They seek to trim things down to placate the Sadduce.es and others. “The Coming of the Lord Draweth Nigh” A» ».amination of the Scrlotures on the Length of The TIMES of the GENTILES n exa i ip WHEN Did They Begin? passed over Nebuchadnezzar is not being ful filled also in the large scale in the case of the Gentile powers. That, and more, is—must be implied in such a statement, or words are mean ingless. I wonder how they know. It pains one to the depths of one’s soul to see the extent to which jealousy and envy blinds and leads those who are generally looked upon as good men. I believe, dear brother, the teaching of your little book is simply irrefutable.” “I am enclosing 30 cents in stamps for one dozen books on the ‘Coming oi the Lord Draw eth Nigh.’ This book certainly has presented the Truths of His coming in a'manner in which they cannot be lightly laid aside, or passed over. It causes me, for one, to praise God and work more earnestly in His service. It is my inten tion to show others these important truths.” “ I heard' a lecture by a dear brother in the Lord on ‘The Coming of the Lord Draweth Nigh,’ and he gave me one of these pamphlets, and with what meager understanding He has given me I have weighed it in the light of His Word and thus far I have found nothing con trary.—Send me two and a-hfdf dozen.” “ Having received the little booklet, ‘The Com-, ing of the Lord Draweth Nigh,’ and being so impressed with the probable truth it contains, I would like others to see a copy of it, so please send me one dozen of your latest, or ' edi tion, for which you will find thirty cents.” “ The teaching is trenchant, and seems to be entirely irrefutable when one is able to rightly divide the word on the subject To me it is simply marvelous and admirable. I believe it would be utterly impossible for it to have with stood the onslaught of cavil and unfriendly crit icism that it has withstood (in my judgment it stands inviolate) if it were not of God. I thank God for it. It has been a positive blessing to my own soul. And it would be a. blessing to all if they would receive it. Is it really possible that the Lord’s people generally do not wish the Lord to come so soon, ‘after so long a time, is a question one can scarcely help asking.” Address: C. J. BAKER, 621 Wyandotte St., Kansas City, Mo.

•‘Your pamphlet .entitled ‘The Coming of the Lbrd Draweth Nigh,’ came to me. When I first glanced at it I started to tear it and cast it into the trash basket, for I thought it was a (Pastor Russell) tract. This agent of Satan keeps the mails flooded with his literature. Some impulse stopped me from destroying the pamphlet and i began to read it. I have read it three times, each time it appeals to me more. I have read Lectures of the Apocalypse by Joseph A. beiss, I keep in touch with all sermons and books on the Coming of the Lord, by I. M. Haldeman, D D I read James M. Gray, the Scofield Bible, etc This treatment of yours on this same sub ject, I find in harmony with these spirit-led men, yours being on a line of details m the Prophets I have never before read Naturally I wonder who you are—you, the author of this Coming of the Lord Draweth Nigh,’ written m the spirit of it, and with such assurance, “Your second lot of pamphlets came. This last with appendices to March is fairly delightful. Blackstone’s ‘Jesus Is Coming’ was my text book, then C C. Cook’s, but I prize yours a» head and shoulders above all on the whole sub )e,C‘Have just been reading ‘The Coming of the Lord Draweth Nigh.’ It has been read with un usual interest for this teaching set forth was ■new to me, but I am sure well worth consider ing. I would like three copies at once. “ ‘Do the leaders amongst us approve of Mr. Baker’s teaching in this particular line?, is a question which, I believe, is often asked in the mind if not by the tongue. And the answer is easily found. In some cases, what is said with reference to it is, in the very nature of it, noth ing short of presumption. Those who state plainly, It is only a theory (some make this positive statement) unwittingly make the claim that they are in possession of definite knowledge on the subject which proves that what is taugfit in your little book cannot come to pass; that the Lord may come any day before or after tne Jewish civil new year’s day, but on that day tie will not come; that the seven times which
