the place where he feels at home? Do you feel at home in the worship of the Lord, when you are by your self? The ideal life is the life of un broken fellowship and communion with Cod. Dwelling in the house of the Lord is possible right at your own kitchen sink, even if your loved one is not as yet saved. Such a re lationship is possible right at your office desk or at the bench where you work. Cod's same presence is with you in the classroom whether it is a secular or Christian school. David said, "I want to behold the beauty of the Lord." The only way we can do such in this life is by faith. What a blessed thing to behold His true beauty and glor ious majesty. This is amply pictured for us in His moral character, holi ness, mercy, grace and love. These things can never fade away. I was noticing the other day all of the different preparations we have in our household to keep the beauty of the family. There are hair prep arations, facial make-ups, mouth washes, teeth cleaners, body soaps and deodorants. Yet no matter how much of these products we use, our bodies continue to grow old, lined and wrinkled . What the Psalmist is saying here is that Cod's beauty never fails or fades. You know the old saying that beauty is only skin deep. Well, that is not true spiritually or really even physi cally. Real beauty goes much deep er than that. A lot of us are good at that, are we not? Perhaps there is good reason to be pessimistic in these days. There are people all about us who are fright ened of the times. Men and wo men are understandably upset and concerned. Notice how David is talking about the potential host encamping against us and the wars which might come on every hand. But, the Lord Jesus says in Matthew 10:28, "Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The very worst any one can do to you is to take your physical life. But after they have done that, we are still in the Lord's hands, and they cannot touch us anymore. David points out that while there is no actual war, yet there is the shadow of the specter of war lurking everywhere. Now is the time when faith's armor is most urgently needed. David testified from the depths of his heart, "One thing have I de sired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple." With this one thing, what other need or request do we have? Can we say, too, "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that is, unbroken fellow ship with Him!"? David said, "I want to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life." This is the way to enjoy heaven before we ever get there. Is it not true that a man's house is
