Better Together: Discover why manuka honey and propolis are more effective when taken at the same time. Q&A

What is Manuka honey? Manuka honey is produced by bees that pollinate the Manuka bush in Australia and New Zealand. When bees pollinate from the Manuka bush, they produce honey that is more potent than standard honey, with more methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is found in the nectar of Manuka plants, and its levels are used to measure Manuka honey potency. While most honey contains this compound, Manuka honey contains it in higher concentrations. Natural Life™ offers various strengths of Manuka honey - the higher your MGO number, the more potent the honey will be. What is propolis? Propolis is popular in Europe and Asia for its health benefits and is now attracting attention in Australia. It is an antiseptic resinous substance from plants, collected by bees and then used in the beehive to create structure, regulate heat, and protect against predators. Propolis has been traditionally used in naturopathic and Western herbal medicine to soothe and relieve mouth irritation, sore throat, pharyngitis and mouth ulcers. An antioxidant, propolis also supports

healthy immune system function, by reducing the formation of inflammatory free radicals. Scientific research is not only confirming these traditional uses of propolis, but also discovering many other exciting potential health benefits. Why is propolis therapeutic? Studies show that propolis initiates its potent therapeutic effects via its unique composition - it contains resin, wax, essential oils, pollen, and potent organic compounds called flavonoids, including quercetin, acacetin, rutin, luteolin, apigenin, and naringenin, just to name a few. Is all propolis the same? No. Its constituents vary depending on the area of origin. It is important to ensure that the propolis you select contains a certain composition of flavonoids and other compounds to ensure its therapeutic efficacy. Australian-made Natural Life™ ensures that each product containing propolis is batch-tested to contain a minimum of eight percent quercetin, along with particular compositions of other important flavonoids, so that each product is therapeutically potent.
