The Elizabeth Hospice 2021-2022 Impact Report

from our President & Chief Executive Officer

Dear Friends,

The Elizabeth Hospice is proud to be recognized as a trusted community resource for hospice care, palliative care and grief support services. Over the past four decades, we have touched the lives of more than 120,000 people in San Diego County and Southwest Riverside County, helping our patients live each day to the fullest. Our team of physicians, nurses, social workers, spiritual counselors, home health aides, and trained volunteers provide exceptional hospice and palliative care for patients and their families. And our skilled counselors offer support and guidance for children and adults experiencing grief associated with losing a loved one. Ensuring that people facing the challenges of advanced serious illness receive the highest quality of care has always been at the forefront of our agency. For many years, The Elizabeth Hospice and others in the healthcare industry have been concerned about the negative impact of fraudulent hospice providers on the quality of care that patients and their families receive. I have been working with community leaders and agencies at the state and national levels to identify and eliminate fraud. We intend to continue serving as an example of what hospice can and should be. The extraordinary caregivers and staff members at The Elizabeth Hospice are dedicated to respecting our patients’ and their families’ choices, wishes and desires. Our care includes services that go above and beyond what is required of hospice providers. This extensive array of services includes child and adult grief support for patients and community members, veteran support, and complementary therapies. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I want to thank the community for its generosity this past year. Together we ensured that children and adults have access to an experienced resource they can rely on for guidance and support when confronted with advanced serious illness and grief. We are deeply grateful for the honor of caring for those who need our services.

With gratitude,

Sarah McSpadden, RN, MSN, MHA President & Chief Executive Officer
