3 NaturalWays to Boost Your EnergyWithout Caffeine Don’t Reach for the Coffee If you can’t start your day without your daily cup — or cups — of joe, you’re not alone. More than 450 million cups of coffee are consumed by U.S. residents every day, and unfortunately, heavy caffeine consumption may not be healthy. (It’s a big reason why celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey, and Kim Kardashian don’t drink it!) Moderate amounts of caffeine can improve your mental health, and some studies suggest it could even prevent some chronic conditions. However, there are major downsides to overconsumption, which equates to more than four cups of coffee each day. These can include high blood pressure, addiction symptoms, and decreased mentality. If you want to break out of the caffeine cycle and reduce how much coffee you drink, try replacing that cuppa with one of these methods! STRETCH After lying in one position all night, your body may feel stiff and achy. Stretching awakens your muscles and helps you break out of that groggy morning feeling. Start with your back and do some slow core twists. Then, sit on the floor and lay your legs out in front of you. Stretch forward, then sit back up. Next, position your right foot on the opposite side of your left knee. Keeping your hips centered, turn your torso toward your right foot so that your right arm is on your right knee. Switch to the other side and repeat as needed. Finally, pull your head toward your shoulders to loosen your neck. GO FOR AWALK When you wake up in the morning, head outside! Movement stimulates your brain and improves your mood, and the act of walking is relaxing enough that it doesn’t require much effort on your part. Plus, it’s a great way to get your steps in, wake up slowly, and get outside before a busy day. JUST BREATHE This might sound like it will lull you to sleep, but there are actually some breathing techniques that can help you wake up! The “breath of fire” is a rapid-fire breathing technique, during which you inhale deeply, exhale deeply, inhale deeply again, and then exhale quickly. Repeat this as needed. Other practices that focus on breathing, like yoga, can be effective, too. Waking up isn’t an exact science, but once you find a healthy method that works for you, you may never need coffee again. (Gasp!)

The Rouses’ Success Story Roger and Maricel Rouse’s international love story began when Maricel met Roger while he was still in the U.S. military. Then, after a couple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and being together for over 12 years, Roger moved to China in 2015 to be with his now-wife and teach English with her. In 2019, they decided it was time to move to the States. Encouraged by a friend who went through the same process, they learned about our firm via referral and started working toward Maricel’s citizenship. In the meantime, Roger took a job in Alaska in June 2019 to prepare their family by buying a house and setting everything up for their new life together. This Family Was Separated for Almost 2 Years Due to the Pandemic

Then, the pandemic hit, and lockdowns began.

“I couldn’t get back to see them,” Roger recalled in a phone interview. Not only were Maricel and their son isolated in China, but COVID-19 caused many problems and delays. “The embassy stopped doing interviews. There was a lot of backlog — employees couldn’t go back to work, and it extended the whole process.” Maricel didn’t want to wait in complete isolation, so she flew with her son to stay with family in the Philippines, moving her citizenship case from China to the Philippines. It wasn’t easy for Roger and Maricel to spend so much time apart during an international crisis. “[The process] took almost two years from the start.” Without technology, it could’ve been much worse. “We were able to do WeChat, the Chinese version of Facebook, so we were able to see each other and chat every day.” Despite the delays, the Rouse family was very impressed with Hillary and her team. “The people who work with Hillary were very helpful and available all the time. I’d email and get a response right away.” All things considered, they were extremely grateful that they didn’t have to navigate the process all by themselves! “[New Frontier] dots all the I’s, crosses all the T’s. Nothing got kicked back, and they were able to move the process from China to the Philippines very easily.”

Now, the Rouse family lives together in northern Alaska near the Arctic — what a change of scenery! Thank you so much for sharing your kind words and experiences with us, Roger and Maricel. We were very happy to help!
