Marlin Elementary is attractively located in a countryside setting approximately one and one-half miles north of downtown Bloomington. It is located on a 12 acre tract of rolling and flat fields bordered by woods, large pines, and grassy farmland. Marlin's approximately 200 students use their extensive grounds while experiencing integrated STEM activities including nature lessons co-taught with the Sycamore Land Trust. The students love conducting experiments in the outdoor classroom and gardening. The teaching at Marlin is researched-based and adaptable, inspired by student’s interests, community, and relevant events. Teachers approach learning with structure and organization, and are dedicated to student achievement and the social and emotional well-being of every student. Students are motivated and love coming to school and building relationships with peers and staff. While the outdoor space at Marlin is charming, the reflective and creative learning practices within Marlin make this a place the community calls home.
