hat is your great- est professional accomplishment? My greatest professional ac- complishment has been, to use the terms of Fredrick Drucker, my transition from a knowl- edge worker to an effective executive. It was this change in my perspective and actions that has allowed GWG to grow with the exceptional employees we have brought on in recent years. Inspiring and trusting in them has returned results I never could have achieved on my own. W

opportunity to showcase its abilities as a Consultant, CM at Risk/ General Contractor, and Steel Supplier all in one job. We completed the job in only 10 months while working through the winter and dealing with a number of challenges. It was an incredible project and a learning experience that has positioned GWG as a go-to for the sports and rec industry. More will be on their way soon! How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry? Aside from managing our

team and inspiring them to achieve common goals, I would say that I contribute to our company and the industry through a capacity to analyze and understand complex situ- ations. My number one goal with any client is to under- stand and treat their business as my own. This enables us to provide many value add services and deliver real prop- erty that meets and exceeds a client’s goals. Who or what has been the strongest influence in your career? By far and large, the biggest influence in my career has been my long time friend and partner, Gary Fleming. Gary started GWG in 2003 to bridge the gap between all phases of industrial planning, design, and construction. When Gary brought me on in 2008 as an intern, he immediately saw value in me that I did not yet see, and put me to work han- dling more than most would with a college grad. His trial by fire approach truly changedmy life, and gaveme the confidence to grow and succeed. Through thick and thin, Gary has been a fixture in my life, guiding me through both professional and personal tribulations. When we partnered in 2015, he made it clear that this was mine to grow and that I could take it as far as I wanted to. His belief in me and his teachings in how to treat others has helped me guide GWG to the place it is today. Together, we will see it to a position as a top CM firm nationally. What impact has social media / networking had on your career? Social Media has always been a hard thing for me to embrace the way the majority of my generation has; I have al- ways preferred in-person com- munication and networking. The internet has changed the way we interact on a daily ba- sis, but I still feel that spend- ing quality time with each other is the best way to develop meaningful connections. And that’s what we look for when networking, a genuine connec- tion and sense of trust.
