Dan Wham Leasing Agent/Development Associate

Years with Company/Firm: 2 | Years in field: 5 Years in Real Estate Industry: 3 RE Organizations / Affiliations: CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women – Philadelphia)

Years with DSM Commercial Real Estate: 4.5 years RE Organizations/Affiliations: CIRC/ICSC What is your most notable project, deal or transaction? Westown, along with DSM’s executive leasing agent, Jim Tancredi, we have helped bring a national tenant from every business type to Middletown’s rapidly developing west side. Who or what has been the strongest influence in your career? Robert Wittig and Tripp Way. They have built an incredibly productive and successful company that I am proud to be associated with. Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current position and why you chose the field/ position you are in today? Throughworking and playing golf at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. I met one of DSM’s Sussex partners, and interviewed for a sales position at his residential company. He thought that I would be a better fit with DSM so I was put in touch with Robert and Tripp and I have been with them ever since. I am currently a leasing agent and development associate. I guess you can say I didn’t really know what I was getting into but couldn’t be happier I ended up here. Who do you feel was most influential in your life when choosing this profession? My father who is a custom home builder and has completed some commercial projects. What outside activities do you enjoy during your free time? Golf. It has played a huge roll in my life professionally and personally. I also love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many places around the world. What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young executive graduating from college? Find something you enjoy doing and work hard at it. If you have a mentor in your field that is also a huge help.

What is your most notable project, deal or transaction? The JHGreene teamhas created tight-knit relationships with Shake Shack and Starbucks’ construction departments thanks to Heather’s sales management activity and the PM team’s execu- tion working hand in hand. Forging these relationships has allowed the company to grow into the corporate space and function in an exponentially more advanced capacity. How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry? Women in construction aren’t as prevalent as their male counterparts, but I appreciate the opportunity to be different and use the visibility as a glimpse into a woman’s command in the industry. It’s important to make achievements known and share in those successes, however equally important to avoid isolation and becoming victim to a “battle of the sexes” mindset. Through involvement in CREW I’m committed to supporting the achievements of women in the industry and using these relationships to contribute to the advancement of JH Greene. What impact has social media / networking had on your career? Fromnetworking and social media connections, I’ve seen the value in giving what we wish to receive. Giving engenders receiving – the more you provide, the more you will take in. Remembering this mantra while meeting new folks, or sharing blog content, I’ve been able to build connections that create a genuine influence in my career. Through both social media and networking, I’ve been able to gain information leading to new opportunities for JH Greene, and also learn from CRE veterans who’ve seen it all. What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young exec. graduating from college? Coming from someone who’s seen it firsthand, it’s important not to feel intimidation from someone due to their high-level position. Always be respectful and admiring, but remember that people are just human, no matter their title. Understand your worth and don’t allow your years of experience (or lack thereof) to compromise that.
