time out of their schedules to assist and guide me early on in my real estate career has been invaluable. What were some of your early goals and did any- thing happen to change them? My early goal was short and simple, make a lot of money. I have since altered my objective to gaining a vast and detailed knowledge of not only the real estate world, but to be the most knowledgeable broker in my target market area. There is value in being an expert in one area, rather than knowing little about many things. Through
exercises within trade maga- zines and online databases, as well as door to door foot can- vassing, I now have my finger on the pulse of the local market. What unique qualities and or personality do you feel makes you most successful in your profession? My honesty and integrity are what turns customers into clients. The ability to be honest and in the best interest of the client, even though it may not be in the best interest of the deal, creates long lasting busi- ness relationships. It is easy to become jaded in this industry, but keeping my head up and outlook positive are keys to success. What is the funniest, most unique situation you have faced/conquered during your career? Or in your life? Duringmy first month on The Blau & Berg team as a sales associate, I was cold calling and got in touch with a seller. I arranged for a meeting and walkthrough of the property with my senior mentor. Upon our arrival, we realized this was a father/son operation and unfortunate for us, only the fa- ther agreed to our meeting. His adult son was livid and for the duration of the meeting yelling and screaming at his father. The father was close to having a heart attack and screamed back repeatedly “you’re driv- ing me nuts!” At this point, the son nearly ran us over with his car in a state of rage. Being that I only had a month on the job, I turned to my mentor and asked, “is this normal in this business?” He nodded and said, “not always.” What outside activities do you enjoy during you free time? I enjoy travelling to new plac- es, especially if there’s a beach and a golf course nearby. My goal this summer was to break 80 and let’s just say, I’m getting close. Also, since recovering from my recent knee replace- ment, nothing beats taking my Siberian Husky on a walk. What inspiring word of advice would you give to a young executive graduating from college today? It is important to do some- thing that you are passionate about and if your intentions are good, the success will come. There is no such thing as a problem, there are only opportunities to learn and grow. MAREJ

It has been a dream of mine to pursue a real estate career. I would consider my greatest accomplishment to be securing a position at The Blau & Berg Company, especially because the principles the company runs on are the same principles I try to live my life by. Honesty, integrity and strong work ethic are a few of the guiding prin- ciples that come to mind. How do you contribute to your company and/or the industry? The most important part of
any member in an organization is to lead by example. I feel that by showing up early and stay- ing late with a positive attitude, I am contributing to morale for younger salesmen within an al- ready successful organization. Who or what has been the
strongest influence in your career? I am fortunate to be a part of a strong senior mentorship program at The Blau & Berg Company, led by extremely successful professionals. Their constant willingness to take the
