Tasmanian Hospitality Review: December/January 25

Clubs Tasmania

As the year comes to a close, I want to express my deepest thanks to the incredible community clubs and volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout 2024. Your dedication, passion, and support have made this year one of the most impactful yet. This year, Clubs Tasmania rolled out more than 50 educational workshops statewide, catering to a wide range of needs. From practical sports taping sessions to essential governance workshops, committee leadership, grant writing, and volunteer workshops, these initiatives were designed to empower our clubs with knowledge and the educational tools to thrive. The response from clubs across Tasmania has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s heartening to see these programs directly benefiting local communities. A significant highlight of 2024 was our successful advocacy, in partnership with COTA Tasmania, for the Ticket to Wellbeing program. This initiative, approved by the State Government, is a game changer for older Tasmanians. It provides those aged 65 and older with two $100 vouchers to help cover registration or membership fees for their chosen sport. This program not only encourages active and healthy living but also fosters greater social connection, ensuring that sport

and recreation remain accessible to all.

We have seen the huge success of the Ticket To Play program, which has provided cost relief to thousands of Tasmanian juniors and given them access to sports they otherwise may not have been able to play. I believe the Ticket to Wellbeing will have just as lasting impact, breaking down financial barriers and ensuring that more Tasmanians can participate in the sports and activities they love.
