Premises trading hours over Christmas and New Years Premises that hold a General, On or Club licence may trade to the following hours, on the following days, without needing an additional permit: • Christmas Eve - until 2am Christmas morning • New Year’s Eve - until 3am New Years day morning
Branch office hours over Christmas and New Year
The Liquor and Gaming Branch offices and most operations will close for the holiday period:
• Closing: 3pm Tuesday 24 December 2024 • Re-opening: 8:45am Thursday 2 January 2025
Liquor and Gaming inspectors will be undertaking both announced and unannounced checks throughout December and January.
These hours are only authorised in conjunction with the following conditions:
• No liquor is removed from the licensed premises during the hours specified in the extension • Any conditions of an out-of-hours permit issued in respect to a General, On or Club licence premises also apply to these extended hours This extension does not override hours in place by Council. If you have been given restricted hours by your local Council, you will need to contact them and seek approval to trade during these extended hours For further information please contact the Liquor and Gaming Branch
Submitting applications and advertising prior to Christmas The holiday period is a busy time of year for the Branch, and you should submit your application for a liquor permit at least two weeks before your event date. If your application is submitted with less time, we may not have enough time to assess it. Advertising of liquor and gaming licence applications will stop on Saturday 7 December 2024 and restart on Saturday 4 January 2025. This is so the public notification and submission process does not occur over the Christmas and New Year period.
