EVERYBODY WINS
raised in victory. Including one very important voice who has become quite influential. “His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh, came up to us and said he thought Bohachuk won the fight and said, ‘I want to put you on the December show,’” recalled Tom Loeffler, the head of 360 Promotions, which represents Bohachuk. “So we knew we would be slotted for that show. Then when it was proposed we fight Madrimov, we knew it would be a high-profile fight. It didn’t take Bohachuk long; he agreed the same day to fight him.” Bohachuk relishes the opportunity: “I’m happy because I have a strong opponent. He’s a good guy. He’s strong. He’s a good boxer. It’s a good fight for me. I can show him an interesting fight.” On the opposing end, there really wasn’t all that much hesitation to take this assignment. “[Madrimov] had the opportunity of having an easier training camp and a little easier of a fight, but obviously with His Excellency there was an opportunity. We had to seize it,” explained Kornilov, who conferred with Madrimov and his trainer, Joel Diaz, in making the decision. “It’s basically about staying in the big picture.” Both sides should be given credit. Yes, they are getting paid well, but they are also risking a second consecutive defeat. But with great risk comes great reward. “Nobody makes you do it,” Kornilov made clear. “I mean, you can get another date if you want and choose another option. It was kind of like, do you want to be co-main event here in a tougher fight, or do you want to consider something else? It’s really up to us.” Under any circumstance, Madrimov- Bohachuk, is a high-quality matchup. Hopefully, it sets a precedent for the future. Losses shouldn’t kill the momentum of a career. “It’s a great fight, a great fight for the sport of boxing. It’s a great fight for both Bohachuk and Madrimov,” stated Loeffler. “These are the types of fights that boxing fans deserve and the sport needs.”
Arena in Las Vegas, Bohachuk engaged in one of the most memorable battles of 2024 as he and Vergil Ortiz went back and forth over 12 fast-paced rounds. Despite scoring two knockdowns, it was Bohachuk coming out on the short end of the stick by the scores of 113-113 and 114-112 (twice). Once again, opinion was split on just who really should’ve had their hand

a great deal of invaluable seasoning. “I think he did really well, but that experience definitely will make him better,” said Kornilov. A week later at the Michelob Ultra
