10-WEEK SESSION STARTS SEPT 16 Physio-Pilates is a unique form of physical exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, breathing, strength, and flexibility. It is often used to help rehabilitate the body after injury, particularly injuries of the pelvis, low back, or neck. Physio-Pilates is a treatment tool used by physiotherapists trained in Pilates, linking current spinal stability research and the traditional exercise rehabilitation and conditioning work of Joseph Pilates. It’s ideal for use in the rehabilitation setting, for general health and well-being, and as a preventive measure to avoid injury. In a seated/standing or laying down position: 1. Inhale your belly button to your spine (hold for 10 seconds or up to 1 minute). 2. Push your belly button toward your nose (hold for the same, notice the upper abs engagement). 3. Push your belly button toward your toes (hold and notice your lower abs engage). 4. Notice where the end of your bottom right rib meets your abdomen and where the top of your left hip meets your abdomen - without moving your body bring those two together (you’ll feel the middle of your abs engage). 5. Repeat the last micro abs on the opposite side left bottom rib and top of right hip - draw these two together and hold for 10 or up to 60 seconds. YAY! You just did your micro abs!! Now refer to the previous featured micro exercise (pat on the back) and say a compliment to yourself out loud. Well done!! Note: you can repeat the micro abs as often as you wish (within reason), when muscles become sore it means they need a rest!
